Sarah Mustillo is a Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Notre Dame, where she previously served as Chair (2016-2018) and as I.A. O’Shaughnessy Dean of the College of Arts and Letters (2018-2025). Her research focuses on medical sociology, mental health, and developmental science, with an emphasis on childhood adversity's impact on mental health trajectories and statistical methodological advancements. She has led NIH-funded projects on sibling influences on adolescent substance use and parental/peer effects during adolescence. Her work appears in top journals like the American Journal of Sociology and Journal of Health and Social Behavior. She has held leadership roles in the ASA Methods Section and American Sociological Review.
