Sarah Murray is a Professor of Education and Chair of the Education Program at Centre College, where she has served since 2006. She holds roles as Pre-Teaching Advisor and Faculty First Generation, and has led study abroad programs across Costa Rica, Ghana, Merida, Myanmar, and Thailand.
Her educational background includes:
- BA in Mathematics from Western Kentucky University
- MA in Mathematics Education from Eastern Kentucky University
- PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Kentucky
Murray specializes in comparative and STEM education research, focusing on cross-cultural intersections of education reform, policy, and culture. Her work examines primary mathematics pedagogy and Information Communication Technology education development in international contexts like Ghana, Singapore, and the U.S., emphasizing practical applications for teacher training and curriculum design.
She was elected by Centre’s Mellon Foundation-funded partnership (with Rhodes and Sewanee colleges) to develop and lead the inaugural Ghana study abroad semester. Murray serves as a Posse Mentor for Boston students and regularly presents at conferences including the Lilly Conference and Online Research Association for Interdisciplinary Studies, often collaborating with advisees like Princess Allotey on publications.
