Dr. Sarah Moore is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Work at the University of North Texas. Her research focuses on international social work practice, refugee and immigrant populations, HIV/AIDS among Ethiopian communities, and qualitative methodologies like Community-Based Participatory Action Research (CBPR). She teaches at the BSW, MSW, and Ph.D. levels, with courses on research methods, global social work, and social policy.
Education: MSW from Washington University in St. Louis (Social and Economic Development concentration) and Ph.D. from The Catholic University of America. Professional experience includes directing international programs at The Catholic University of America, involving summer experiences in the Philippines, Vietnam, and Nicaragua.
Research interests emphasize global social work education, immigrant communities, and participatory research methods. Recent work explores HIV/AIDS awareness among Ethiopian immigrants and the impact of study abroad programs on student global competence. She co-edited a special issue on SDGs in social work education (2022) and received a Fulbright-Hays award to study Nordic social welfare models.
Leadership roles include serving as President of Global Awareness Society International (2018-2020), co-chairing conferences, and managing student scholarship programs. Her publications span journals in social work education, public health, and qualitative research. She actively contributes to academic boards, including roles as Assistant Editor for the Journal of Religion & Spirituality in Social Work.
