Sarah Miller is a Professor in the School of Social Sciences, Education and Social Work at Queen's University Belfast. She holds leadership roles including Director of Postgraduate Taught Studies and Director of Campbell UK & Ireland. Her research focuses on early childhood education, social emotional development, and evidence-based program evaluation. She has conducted over 25 large-scale studies using methodologies like randomized controlled trials and systematic reviews. Recent projects include analyzing educational inequalities, evaluating interventions for homelessness, and promoting peacebuilding through early childhood development.
Her research interests span systematic review methodologies, program evaluation, and the intersection of education with social policy. Key publications examine wellbeing in primary education, mentorship impacts on reading outcomes, and methodological quality in systematic reviews. Miller has contributed to influential reports cited in policy discussions, such as evidence informing Northern Ireland's education policies.
She leads multiple funded projects, including the ESRC-supported study on social inequalities in education and the NIHR Global Health Research Group on Early Childhood Development (ECD) and Peacebuilding.
