Ms. Sarah Miller is a Lecturer in the Department of Languages, Literatures & Cultures at Appalachian State University, where she teaches introductory linguistics and courses on language education for teaching English learners. Her work focuses on language policy, multicultural education, and cross-cultural dialogue. She holds an M.Ed. in ESOL/Bilingual/Multicultural Education from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst (2000).
Her research interests include sociolinguistics, curriculum development for multilingual learners, and the intersection of language with identity and social justice. She has extensive international experience, having taught and lived in Montenegro, Germany, Austria, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Cambodia. Her professional skills encompass holistic assessment, ethnography of communication, and integrating local knowledge systems into educational policies.
