Dr. Sarah McConnell is a Term Assistant Professor of Music Theory and Ear Training at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF), joining in Fall 2020. She holds a Ph.D. in Music Theory from the University of North Texas (UNT), where her dissertation explored Max Reger’s instrumental music through developing variation. Her research also includes film score analysis, choral works from a performer’s perspective, and Alaska Native Music integration in education.

- Awards: Robert W. Ottman Teaching Fellowship (UNT).
- Teaching Roles: Adjunct at Dallas Baptist University (2011–2012); Lecturer at Texas A&M Kingsville (2014–2015).
Her research on Max Reger and Brahms has been presented at conferences like the 2016 GTA Symposium of Music Theory at Indiana University. She is the Music Minor and BA in Music advisor at UAF and actively incorporates Alaska Native Music into her curriculum. Previously, she sang with the Houston Symphony Chorus and taught private oboe lessons.
