Sarah Luna is an Associate Professor of Anthropology and Director of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Tufts University. She holds a PhD from the University of Chicago (2013) and has conducted extensive research on the US-Mexico border, focusing on gender, sexuality, migration, and race. Her work examines how borders shape social difference and human relations through ethnographic studies of sex workers and missionaries in Reynosa, Mexico.
Her research interests include gender and sexuality-based activism in Mexico City, fitness culture in the U.S., and the intersection of love, obligation, and violence in border zones. Luna has authored a book, Love in the Drug War, and published in journals like GLQ and Cultural Anthropology.
