Sarah Kane is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Veterinary Sciences at the University of Wyoming. She holds the Riverbend Chair in Wildlife Health and focuses on chronic wasting disease (CWD) and its implications for other protein misfolding disorders like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Diseases.

Dr. Kane employs multidisciplinary approaches in her research, utilizing techniques such as assay development, environmental testing, cell culture, western blotting, and next-generation sequencing. She will teach a course at the University of Wyoming in Spring 2026.
Research Focus: The Kane laboratory investigates CWD, aiming to expand environmental surveillance and detection technologies. Her work also applies prion biology concepts to broader neurodegenerative disease research.
