Dr Sarah-Jane Burton is a Research Fellow at The Australian National University (ANU) within the ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences, specializing in English literature and serving as Graduate Attribute Lead for Indigenous Knowledges and Perspectives. Her roles include Official Historian for the New England Poetry Club and previous fellowships at Houghton Library (Harvard) and Lilly Library (Indiana University). She holds a PhD from the University of Wollongong, with earlier degrees in Communication and English.
Her research focuses on mid-twentieth century American poetry, New England literary history, and archival preservation. She actively integrates Indigenous Australian knowledges into university curricula. Notable awards include the Everett Helm Fellowship and Schlesinger Library Grant.
Recent publications explore intersections of poetry with political discourse and colonial legal systems, alongside contributions to digital humanities and curriculum design. Grants include projects on regional outreach and pedagogical innovation.
