Sarah Jackson

Sarah Jackson is a Professor in the Department of Dental Hygiene at Eastern Washington University (EWU), serving as Program Director for the BSHS/BSDH Degree completion program and contributing to the MSDH Master’s Program. She has been full-time faculty since 2007, teaching courses like Leadership, Advocacy and Ethics, and Clinical Teaching Strategies. She also advises the SADHA student organization and collaborates with the University of Washington’s RIDE program. Her expertise includes faculty development, health/wellness advocacy, ergonomics, and stress management. She is actively involved with the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) and co-founded a health/wellness hub for dental hygienists.

Education:

• Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene, EWU (2005, with honors)
• Master of Science in Dental Hygiene Education, Idaho State University (2007)

Research Interests: Sarah focuses on fostering critical thinking in dental hygiene education, interprofessional education (IPE), and promoting physical/mental wellness among healthcare professionals through ergonomics and mindfulness practices like yoga and Pilates. She advocates for special needs families, co-authoring the book “Dear Mama” to support special needs mothers.

Professional Contributions: She launched a health/wellness hub with a colleague and is a national/international speaker on wellness topics. Her advocacy extends to DiGeorge syndrome awareness through her personal experience as a mother of a child with 22q deletion syndrome.
