Sarah Hick joined Hamline University in 2007 as an Associate Professor in the Teacher Education Department within the School of Education and Leadership. She serves as Department Chair for HSEL and works at the Giddens/Alumni Learning Center on the St. Paul Main Campus.
- Education: BA in Political Science (Grinnell College), MS in Environmental Science (Yale University), PhD in Curriculum and Instruction (University of Minnesota)
Sarah's research focuses on science teacher beliefs and practices through a constructivist lens, emphasizing active learning processes. She models instructional strategies that prepare future K-12 educators to address academic, emotional, and social needs of diverse students.
Her work centers on developing secondary-level science curricula and fostering critical thinking about teaching practices through questions such as: How to connect with student needs? How to create inclusive learning environments? How to develop scientific thinking skills?
