Sarah Hennigan is an Associate Professor of Film Production and Associate Chair in the Department of Theatre & Film at the University of Mississippi. She holds a B.A. in Film Studies from Vassar College and an MFA in Radio-Television-Film from the University of Texas at Austin.
Her research focuses on Native representation in media, documentary/narrative filmmaking, and cinematic storytelling. Her work has screened at festivals like SXSW, Māoriland, and Austin Film Festival, with her cinematography on I Am Mackenzie winning the 2019 SXSW Texas Shorts Jury Prize.
Teaching emphases include editing (Thea 350/450), cinematic storytelling (Thea 455), and foundational cinema studies. She also freelances as a filmmaker and has taught color correction for the Austin Film Society.
