Sarah Goldberg

Sarah Goldberg, MD, MPH, is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Medical Oncology section at Yale School of Medicine. She serves as Division Chief of Thoracic Oncology, Research Director of the Center for Thoracic Cancers, and Associate Program Director of the Medical Oncology-Hematology Fellowship Program. Her clinical focus is on thoracic malignancies including lung cancer, mesothelioma, and thymoma. Dr. Goldberg completed her medical degree at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and a Master’s in Public Health at Harvard School of Public Health.

Dr. Goldberg’s research centers on biomarker investigation and novel therapies for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), with specific interests in EGFR mutation-positive tumors, immunotherapeutic strategies, and brain metastases management. Her work bridges clinical practice and translational research, emphasizing real-world outcomes and therapeutic landscape analysis.

Active clinical trials under her leadership include phase II/III studies evaluating combinations of immunotherapy and targeted therapies for advanced lung cancers. Notable collaborations involve colleagues like Dr. Roy Herbst and Dr. Veronica Chiang, focusing on CNS metastases and drug efficacy in oncogene-driven tumors.

Her academic contributions span over 90 publications, with recent work addressing treatment patterns post-EGFR TKI progression, HLA pathway alterations in brain metastases, and the role of tyrosine kinase inhibitors in CNS disease. She is a frequent presenter at major oncology conferences, including the ASCO Annual Meeting.
