Sarah Dart

Sarah Dart is a Senior Lecturer and Strategic Lead for Learner Experience and Evaluation at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), within the Learning and Teaching Unit. She holds an affiliation with the School of Mechanical, Medical and Process Engineering, where she has taught subjects in Mechanics, Dynamics, and Control. Her roles include overseeing institutional learning evaluations, national surveys, and student success services. Sarah’s research focuses on engineering education, educational technology, and academic development. She has transitioned from a background in numerical modelling of red blood cell dynamics to educational research, emphasizing blended learning designs and educator capabilities.

Her research interests include the impact of worked example videos in blended learning, engineering educators’ professional development, and capability-building in engineering education. Notable projects include a YouTube channel with video resources and studies on engineering education researchers’ development. She has secured grants from the Australasian Association for Engineering Education and QUT’s Women in Research scheme. Awards include two Australian Awards for University Teaching citations, an Early Career Teaching Excellence Award (Australian Mathematical Society), and Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.

Sarah’s recent work emphasizes educator wellbeing in virtual classrooms, retention themes in engineering education, and gender motivations in STEM. She serves as an Associate Editor for the European Journal of Engineering Education and is an Associate Investigator at QUT’s Centre for Data Science. Her contributions span over 30 publications, reflecting her commitment to advancing teaching excellence and educational innovation.
