Sarah Chin is a Lecturer and Preceptor in the Department of Mathematics at Harvard University. Her research focuses on stroke mechanisms, intracerebral hemorrhage outcomes, and neurorehabilitation techniques such as melodic intonation therapy for aphasia. She has led and contributed to pivotal clinical trials including the SATURN trial for statin therapies and the FEASt trial for post-stroke dysphagia treatment. Her work integrates clinical data analysis with neuroimaging to improve stroke patient care.
Key research interests include understanding sex differences in cerebrovascular disease, optimizing anticoagulant use in hemorrhagic stroke patients, and evaluating the role of non-invasive brain stimulation in recovery. Her studies often involve systematic reviews and meta-analyses to synthesize evidence on stroke outcomes and treatments.
Recent articles highlight advancements in predicting stroke-associated pneumonia risks, analyzing perihematomal edema impacts, and investigating therapeutic interventions through randomized controlled trials. She actively addresses gender disparities in clinical trial leadership and stroke-related research authorship.
Collaborations span neurology, cardiology, and speech pathology disciplines. Current projects include refining clinical scoring systems for stroke complications and advancing translational research in aphasia recovery mechanisms.
