Sarah Carter

Dr. Sarah Carter is a Lecturer and Unit Coordinator in the Doctor of Podiatric Medicine Program at The University of Western Australia (UWA), affiliated with the School of Allied Health and the Podiatric Medicine & Surgery department. She has been actively involved in teaching and curriculum development since 2014. Her academic journey includes a Bachelor of Podiatric Medicine (UWA, 2009), a Master of Science in Motion Analysis (University of Dundee, 2014), and a PhD in Dance Biomechanics (UWA & Edith Cowan University, 2018). Her research focuses on dance biomechanics, lower limb mechanics, and podiatric applications in movement analysis.

Dr. Carter’s expertise spans motion analysis, injury prevention in dancers, and clinical biomechanics. She has presented at conferences such as the Australasian Podiatry Conference and the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and education. She has supervised HDR students, including a 2021–2022 project examining plantar pressure changes in hindfoot relief shoes.

Her research outputs explore topics like 3D foot modeling, friction effects on joint mechanics, and alternative casting methods for foot ulcers. Collaborations include interdisciplinary projects with performing arts institutions and biomechanics labs.
