Sarah Carmack is an Adjunct Professor of Oboe in the Music, Film & Creative Enterprise department at the University of St. Thomas, part of the College of Arts and Sciences. She is a freelance oboist active in the Twin Cities, performing with ensembles like the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra and Minnesota Sinfonia. Her roles include solo performances, chamber music recitals, and teaching private oboe lessons. She also specializes in reed making, knife sharpening, and oboe maintenance, offering workshops and services for other musicians.
Education: Graduate studies at the University of Minnesota and undergraduate degree from the New England Conservatory of Music. Teaching focuses on performance techniques, reed craftsmanship, and instrument care, with masterclasses across Minnesota institutions.
Current courses include Graduate Music Performance Studies (GMUS 577) and Undergraduate Oboe Electives (MUSP 137) in Summer and Fall 2025. She actively engages in community music initiatives, including church performances and collaborations with Vocalessence.
