Sarah Brooks is Professor of Political Science at Ohio State University, holding appointments since 2001 with progressive academic ranks from Assistant to Associate to Full Professor. She earned her Ph.D. from Duke University and specializes in comparative and international political economy with regional expertise in Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Her research examines the intersection of state-market relations, economic insecurity, and political behavior. Major streams include: 1) The political economy of sovereign debt markets and investor-government relations; 2) The 'resource curse' paradox and natural resource governance; 3) Impacts of physical/economic insecurity on democratic citizenship. Her recent work extends to critical minerals in green energy transitions.
Publications demonstrate consistent focus on political economy mechanisms, with trends toward microfoundations of macro phenomena and innovative methodologies examining investor behavior, policy diffusion, and individual-level political responses to risk.
