Sarah Abramowicz is an Associate Professor of Law and Edward Wise Research Scholar at Wayne State University Law School. She teaches courses in Family Law, Contracts, and Law and Literature. Her scholarship bridges legal history, family law, and contract law, with a focus on child custody, adoption, and the intersections of childhood in legal frameworks.
Education: Ph.D. in English Literature from Columbia University; J.D. from Columbia Law School (Kent Scholar); B.A. from Stanford University. She was a law clerk to Judge Amalya L. Kearse of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and participated in Columbia's Program on Careers in Law Teaching.
Research Interests: Her work examines historical and contemporary legal issues in family law, including custody disputes, parental incarceration impacts, and LGBTQ+ family rights. She frequently integrates literary analysis, as seen in her Law and Literature Seminar.
Recognition: Her scholarship has been featured in top journals like the Yale Journal of Law & the Humanities and selected for prestigious forums at Harvard, Stanford, Yale, and Columbia/Georgetown.
