Sara Yeatman is a Professor in the Health and Behavioral Sciences department at the University of Colorado Denver, affiliated with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the CU Population Center (Development Director). Her research spans fertility dynamics, contraceptive access, and global health, particularly focusing on Malawi’s HIV epidemic and U.S. reproductive healthcare policy.

Dr. Yeatman’s work examines the gap between fertility desires and behaviors, using both qualitative and quantitative methods. She co-founded the Tsogolo La Thanzi (TLT) Project (2009–2015), a longitudinal study in Malawi analyzing HIV’s impact on youth life trajectories. Current work with the Colorado Fertility Project investigates how contraceptive access affects educational and health outcomes in the U.S.
Her research trends include reproductive autonomy, health equity, and policy evaluation. The TLT Project alone has generated 70+ publications and supported student theses across institutions.
