Sara Wellman is an Associate Professor of French in the Department of Modern Languages at the University of Mississippi, where she also serves as co-director of the French Program and Graduate Program Coordinator for the M.A. in Modern Languages with emphases in French, German, or Spanish.
Education:

Her research focuses on 17th and 18th Century French literature and environmental literature. She explores how early modern French texts engage with nature, sustainability, and socio-environmental realities, often through the lens of gender and identity.
Her publications span interdisciplinary themes, combining literary analysis with environmental and gender studies. She examines works from French classical authors like Rousseau and Montpensier, connecting historical pastoral traditions with contemporary environmental discourse.
She teaches a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses including French conversation, literature, culture, and specialized topics such as Green Paris and Environment in French and Francophone Literature.
