Sara Watson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at The Ohio State University. Her research focuses on comparative politics and political economy, particularly examining social welfare policies and labor market regulations in advanced industrialized nations, with a focus on Western Europe. She is the author of the book The Left Divided (2015), published by Oxford University Press, which explores the political dynamics influencing welfare state development in Iberian countries. Her work also includes studies on U.S. social policy variations and school funding equity in Ohio.
Dr. Watson holds a Ph.D. from the University of California. Her research interests include comparative political economy, welfare state analysis, labor market regulation, and education policy. She has conducted extensive research on the evolution of social rights and obligations in the United States and Europe, particularly focusing on how work-based conditionality shapes welfare policies. Her recent projects explore variations in social rights across U.S. states and the impact of federalism on social policy.
