Sara Valentine is an Associate Professor of Theatre at the University of Southern Maine (USM), affiliated with the Department of Theatre in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. She joined USM in 2016 after Tulane University and holds an MFA in Acting from the University of Delaware and a BA in Theatre Arts from Ithaca College.
Her expertise spans teaching, directing, and coaching in theatre. Courses include Acting/Performance, TYA/Touring Theatre, Voice & Movement, and Public Speaking. She directs USM main stage productions and serves as text, voice, and dialect coach. Notable directing credits include *The Language Archive*, *Twelfth Night*, and *Unlock’d*. Additional credits encompass works by Shakespeare, Carner & Gregor, and others.
Professional affiliations include Actors’ Equity Association (AEA) and certifications in Antigym movement therapy, Roy Hart Theatre Voice, and dialect coaching. She co-founded Really Inventive Stuff, a vaudeville-inspired theatre company collaborating with orchestras across North America since 2004.
