Her research explores migration studies, nationalism and identity, ethnomethodology, and oral history, particularly in Japanese and Korean diasporic contexts. Current projects examine cross-cultural education practices between Japan and Finland, postwar border management in Northeast Asia, and gender dynamics in historical memory.
Recent publications analyze the resettlement of Koreans and Okinawans under shifting imperial and postwar regimes, autobiographical narratives of Zainichi Korean women, and the sociological implications of myth in Japanese food traditions. Her work bridges macro-historical analysis with micro-level social interactions.
