Sara N. Beam (they/she) is an Associate Professor of English & Creative Writing at The University of Tulsa, affiliated with the Kendall College of Arts & Sciences. They specialize in first-year writing, writing for the professions, disability justice, teaching with writing, institutional memory, Indigenous studies, and place-based learning. Beam co-leads The PSIG Project, which identifies and honors the students of the Presbyterian School for Indian Girls, the Indigenous Boarding School that evolved into The University of Tulsa.

Research Interests: Beam’s work focuses on rhetoric and composition, critical disability studies, personal narrative writing, and composition pedagogy. They emphasize writing program administration, digital environments in writing, and the historical legacy of Indigenous boarding schools in education. Their projects integrate disability justice and place-based learning to address institutional memory and curriculum development.
