Dr. Sara McGuinness is an Associate Professor at the University of West London's London College of Music (LCM), with significant affiliations to the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). A professional musician active on the UK Salsa scene for over two decades, she specializes in practice-based research, performance, and sound recording at the intersection of Congolese and Cuban music traditions. Her fieldwork includes collaborations with Congolese musicians since 2005 and sound recording initiatives in Western Sahara refugee camps through LCM's international programs.
