Sara Martin is an Adjunct Research Professor at the Department of Biology, Carleton University, within the Faculty of Science. Her research integrates evolution, genomics, systematics, and weed science, with a focus on the Brassicaceae (Mustard Family).
- Education: B.Sc. from University of Toronto, Ph.D. from University of Guelph.
Her work explores the evolution of herbicide resistance, the role of hybridization and polyploidy in plant evolution, and gene flow between species. Current projects include evaluating novel Brassicaceae crops, analyzing hybridization between genetically engineered crops and wild relatives, studying herbicide resistance in Canadian weeds, and genomic systematics of Camelina sativa, Brassica spp., and Kochia scoparia.
Selected research trends include genetic mechanisms of herbicide resistance, hybridization dynamics, genomic taxonomy, and ecological impacts of polyploidy in plants.
Collaborators include Linda M Hall, Hugh J Beckie, Brian C Husband, and others cited in publications.
