Sara Mariscal Vega is an Assistant Professor in the Department of History, Geography and Philosophy at the University of Cadiz, with additional affiliation at the University of Seville in the Department of Metaphysics and Current Trends in Philosophy, Ethics and Political Philosophy. Her academic work focuses on bridging philosophical theory with practical educational applications, particularly in the areas of inclusive education and critical thinking development.
Dr. Mariscal Vega earned her PhD from the University of Seville in 2019 with her thesis "From Clear to Distinct: Keys to a Triple Inclusive Opening of Thought: Hermeneutic, Applied, and Literary Reason," supervised by Dr. José Antonio Marín Casanova. Her doctoral work established the foundation for her ongoing research into alternative rationalities beyond traditional rationalist philosophy.
Her research interests span Social and Political Philosophy, Applied Ethics, Bioethics, and particularly Philosophy for Children (P4C). She investigates how philosophical dialogue can foster critical thinking, inclusivity, and peace education in diverse learning environments. Her work emphasizes the connection between hermeneutics, irony, and social transformation, exploring how narrative and contingent reasoning can create more just educational spaces. She is particularly interested in the application of flipped classroom methodologies combined with philosophical dialogue to enhance higher-order thinking skills.
Analysis of her recent publications reveals a strong focus on contemporary educational challenges, particularly the integration of digital technologies in teaching, LGBTQ+ inclusion in educational settings, and the application of philosophical methods to develop critical citizenship. Her 2022-2025 work shows increasing attention to gender diversity, queer theory, and anti-discrimination education in teacher training programs, while maintaining her foundational interest in hermeneutic philosophy and educational practice.
Dr. Mariscal Vega is actively involved in the research group HUM536 "The Problem of Otherness in Today's World," which aligns with her focus on inclusive education and understanding diverse perspectives. Her collaborative work spans multiple institutions and demonstrates commitment to interdisciplinary approaches to educational philosophy, connecting theoretical insights with practical classroom applications.
