Sara Malo Cerrato

Sara Malo Cerrato is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Girona (UdG), with a focus on Social Psychology and digital well-being. She has coordinated the Psychology degree program for seven academic years (2014/2015–2021/2022) and currently leads the doctoral program Psychology, Health and Quality of Life from 2024/2025. Her work integrates research, teaching, and academic management.

• Education: PhD in Psychology (Cum Laude, 2009)

Research Interests: Centered on Digital Well-being, analyzing risks and opportunities of ICTs and social media use in early childhood, and Subjective Well-being in Childhood and Adolescence, including adaptation of well-being scales in cross-cultural contexts and technology-driven mental health promotion in vulnerable environments. She co-leads an R&D project developing a child well-being monitoring system (SMB) and a robotic intervention (IRS) for emotional recognition.

Scientific Awards:

• ICEBERG2025 Prize for the AVATREQ platform.

Grants & Projects: Participated in 30 competitive research projects (2 as Principal Investigator), 5 non-competitive projects, 22 research contracts (7 as Principal Investigator), and 2 knowledge transfer projects. She collaborates with CDIAPs in Girona and international research groups in Poland, Brazil, and ECREA's Childhood, Youth, and Media section.
