Sara König

Dr. Sara König is a researcher at the Department of Soil Systems Research at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) in Halle (Saale), Germany. Her work focuses on modeling spatiotemporal dynamics in soil ecosystems and functional resilience under environmental fluctuations. She develops mechanistic simulation models to study agricultural impacts on soil functions such as carbon storage and nutrient cycling. Key projects include the BODIUM soil model and the BODIUM4Farmers web application. König holds a PhD in Environmental System Science (2016) and has contributed to interdisciplinary research on microbial ecosystems and disturbance effects. She teaches courses on soil modeling and resilience at the University of Osnabrück and collaborates on initiatives like the GLIMPSE graduate school.
