Sara Hamilton serves as Family Advisor, Founder, and Board Chair of the Family Office Exchange (FOX) while holding an academic appointment as Adjunct Professor at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where she teaches Private Wealth Management and Wealth Essentials courses.
Her research focuses on intergenerational wealth preservation and family enterprise governance, with expertise spanning ultra-high-net-worth family dynamics, family office operations, and sustainable legacy planning. Key contributions include:

- Best practices in family wealth stewardship
- Strategies for aligning enterprise vision with family values
- Global advocacy for private enterprise sustainability
Hamilton co-authored the seminal work "Family Legacy and Leadership: Preserving True Family Wealth in Challenging Times" and serves on governing boards including the Foundation for Advancing Impact and Sustainability (Bologna) and Private Directors Association (Chicago). She actively develops educational programs at both University of Chicago and VU University Amsterdam.
