معرفی
Sara Eriksson is a Doctoral Guest Researcher at the Bonn Center for Dependency and Slavery Studies (BCDSS), University of Bonn, from October 2024 to September 2025. Her current research project, "The Average Person – Looking for Enslaved Labor at Hellenistic Kalaureia", examines how unfree labor and enslavement shaped daily life in ancient Greece through archaeological analysis. She bridges classical archaeology and anthropological approaches, integrating theories from transatlantic slavery studies and Black feminist thought.
Education:
- 2019–2021: M.A. in Anthropology, University of California, Berkeley, USA
- 2014–2018: B.A. in Classical Archaeology and Ancient History, Lund University, Sweden
Research Focus: Her work challenges traditional archaeological frameworks by centering enslavement as a normative experience in ancient Greek society. She analyzes ceramic assemblages from the Sanctuary of Poseidon at Kalaureia to explore how intersecting factors like gender, skill, age, and ethnicity influenced labor conditions. She engages with theories of agency and assemblages to understand historical continuities and changes.
Labs/Teams: Affiliated with the Bonn Center for Dependency and Slavery Studies (BCDSS), where she collaborates on interdisciplinary studies of dependency systems in global historical contexts.
