Sara Damron is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Arkansas State University's College of Nursing and serves as the Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP-BC) Option Coordinator. She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Arkansas State University. Clinically, she has experience as a hospitalist in rural Arkansas and as an intensivist in a large academic center.

Dr. Damron's research interests focus on alcohol abuse and withdrawal, patient communication techniques, and independent nurse practitioner practice. Her work emphasizes expanding clinical autonomy for nurse practitioners and improving patient outcomes in acute care settings.
She is actively engaged in professional organizations, serving as treasurer and committee member for the Arkansas Nurse Practitioner Association, and is part of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. In 2022, she was among the first 60 nurse practitioners in Arkansas granted Full Practice Authority by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing, enabling independent practice without physician collaboration.
Dr. Damron specializes in teaching acute care, critical care, advanced procedures, and NP advocacy. She is a frequent speaker at state and national conferences, contributing to the advancement of nursing practice through education, clinical innovation, and policy engagement.
