Sara Cordes is Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience at Boston College, where she directs research on numerical cognition and developmental psychology. She earned her PhD from Rutgers University and leads the Infant and Child Cognition Lab.
Her research examines preverbal and verbal representations of number, space, and time across development, investigating how children acquire mathematical concepts and how language influences quantitative reasoning. Cordes explores impacts of emotional stimuli on quantity judgments and educational interventions for mathematical development.

She currently oversees multiple NSF-funded projects investigating social influences on math learning and mathematical concept development in special populations.
