Sara Barnard Flory

Dr. Sara Barnard Flory serves as a Professor and Undergraduate Program Coordinator for Physical Education Teacher Education at the University of South Florida's College of Education, Tampa campus, where she oversees program coordination and teaches across undergraduate and graduate curricula.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Movement Science and Athletic Training from the University of Michigan, complemented by a master’s degree in Secondary Education and a doctorate in Kinesiology from Wayne State University; during her graduate studies, she contributed to the Detroit Healthy Youth Initiative and Generation with Promise grants focused on public school health education reform.

Her research centers on developing inclusive physical education teaching practices through innovative curricular models and meaningful physical activity programming designed to address diverse student populations and community needs, with emphasis on practical implementation in real-world educational settings.

Professor Flory's teaching portfolio includes secondary instructional design courses, content-area instruction, internship supervision, and graduate-level physical education programming; her prior grant work with Detroit public schools provides foundational expertise for her curriculum development approach and program leadership.
