Dr. Algoe’s work examines how emotions like gratitude, prosocial giving, and shared laughter contribute to high-quality relationships. She employs quantitative methods, including behavioral, psychological, and biological measures of relationship dyads, and longitudinal designs to explore how accumulated interactions affect relational and health outcomes. Her research spans friendships, romantic couples, co-workers, and new acquaintances.
The Sasaki et al. (2022) study under review highlights her focus on dyadic emotional processes, particularly how feeling loved can mitigate destructive relational behaviors. Her publications often intersect social psychology, health psychology, and psychophysiology, emphasizing emotional dynamics in social contexts.
