Rebecca Klatzkin is Professor of Psychology and Chair of Neuroscience at Rhodes College. Her research investigates physiological and psychological mechanisms of stress-induced eating in women, aiming to inform prevention/treatment strategies for binge eating disorder, obesity, and chronic stress through interdisciplinary approaches combining Psychology and Neuroscience.
Education includes:
- Ph.D. in Psychology, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
- M.A. in Psychology, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
- B.S. in Psychology, University of Richmond
Her research examines how psychophysiological stress responses (particularly HPA axis activation and cortisol release) interact with individual differences like obesity, binge eating, and chronic stress to impact eating behaviors. Her Behavioral Neuroscience Lab focuses on translating these findings into tailored interventions.
Research publications primarily explore stress-eating relationships through laboratory studies examining cortisol reactivity, negative affect, and food consumption patterns in diverse female populations. Recent work investigates stress mindset modulation of eating behaviors and emotional relief expectations.
