Sara Amorim is a Researcher at the Centre for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry (CBQF) at the Portuguese Catholic University of Porto, and an Invited Professor in the Master’s in Biomedical Engineering program. She holds a PhD in Tissue Engineering, Regenerative Medicine, and Stem Cells from the University of Minho (2020), and has conducted postdoctoral research at I3Bs (UMinho) focusing on 3D biomaterials for glioblastoma studies and cardiac tissue regeneration. Her research emphasizes biomaterials for regenerative medicine, hydrogel development, and stem cell applications. She leads the FCT-funded I-Care project (2023.00076.RESTART) to develop biocompatible cardiac patches. Active in academic communities, she has presented at conferences like the European Association for Study of Diabetes and participated in events such as IV Jornada de IBEROS+.
Education: PhD in Tissue Engineering (2020, UMinho), MSc in Medicinal Chemistry (2009, UMinho), BSc in Chemistry (2007, UMinho).
Research interests include hydrogel design for cardiac regeneration, hyaluronan's role in cancer invasion, and osteogenic differentiation via nanotechnology. Her work bridges material science and biomedical applications, with a focus on translational medicine and 3D bioprinting.
Grants: Principal Investigator of the FCT-funded I-Care project (2023). Activities include academic service (e.g., conference organization) and public engagement through talks like 'Engenharia de Tecidos Humanos: ciência ou ficção?' (2024).
Labs/Teams: Active at CBQF and collaborates with institutions like Ipatimup and I3Bs, focusing on interdisciplinary biomaterials research.
