Saoirse Casey-Power

Dr. Saoirse Casey-Power is a Lecturer in Medicinal Chemistry at the Department of Science and Computing, South East Technological University. She holds a PhD in Nanomaterials for Ocular Drug Delivery (awarded October 2024) and a BSc (Hons) in Pharmaceutical Science (2019). Her research focuses on polymer chemistry, ocular drug delivery systems, nanoparticle formulations, and anti-ageing therapies. She collaborates with institutions like Rowan Virtua School of Translational Biomedical Engineering and Sciences (New Jersey) and the Ocular Therapeutics Research Group.

Her work addresses ocular diseases via NAD+ delivery, emphasizing hyaluronic acid and polyelectrolyte complexes. Notable achievements include the 2021 'Best Poster Presentation' award. She serves on the Retina Network Ireland Advisory Committee and co-chairs the Research Postgraduate Forum at SETU.
