Sanuri Rashmitha Liyanage

Sanuri Rashmitha Liyanage is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Vascular Research Center, SAHMRI, affiliated with the Adelaide Medical School, University of Adelaide. Her work focuses on cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and stem cell biology. She holds a PhD (2023) and dual undergraduate degrees (2017, 2018) from the University of Adelaide, where she received the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award and Dean’s Commendation for Doctoral Thesis Excellence.

• Research Highlights: Discovery of endothelial-macrophage progenitors (EndoMac) in postnatal tissues, advancing understanding of vascular repair and diabetic complications.
• Awards: Paul Dudley White International Scholar Award (2023), PhD Rising Stars Prize (2018).

Her research explores therapeutic applications of EndoMac progenitors for ischemic tissue repair and diabetes-related vascular issues. She is a committee member of key organizations including the SA Cardiovascular Research Network and Australasian Society for Stem Cell Research.
