Santiago Franco Corredor is a Doctoral Researcher at the Department of Microsystems Engineering, University of Freiburg. He is affiliated with the Laboratory of Process Technology (NeptunLab) and focuses on thermoelectric energy harvesting and responsive metamaterial systems. His research integrates material science with adaptive microsystems engineering to develop multifunctional systems capable of harvesting thermal energy through shape adaptation in response to temperature changes.
His current project, ThermoMetaS, aims to create 4D-printable materials that alter their shape and harvest energy based on environmental thermal variations. His academic supervision is led by Prof. Dr. Bastian E. Rapp. He is part of the interdisciplinary livMatS research community at the University of Freiburg, collaborating with teams in material design and adaptive systems engineering.
While no specific awards or grants are explicitly listed, his work aligns with recent trends in sustainable energy and smart material innovation. He is embedded within the NeptunLab infrastructure, contributing to projects at the intersection of material functionality and environmental responsiveness.
