Sanna Wicks is an Assistant Professor in Film Production and Course Director for the BA (Hons) Film Production program at Coventry University's School of Media and Performing Arts within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. Her academic background includes a PhD candidature at Coventry University's Centre for Postdigital Cultures, focusing on 'sense of place' as a key concept in cultural production. She holds a BA in Television and Video Production from Bournemouth University, an MA by Research on mobile apps in heritage interpretation from the University of Birmingham, and a PGCert from Coventry University.
Her research bridges film production techniques and heritage interpretation, particularly exploring how lighting design in historic properties enhances visitor immersion and enchantment. She co-directs the Coventry Phoenix Film Festival and previously led Treehouse Media Productions, specializing in heritage-related projects like lighting historic National Trust sites and creating 3D visualizations.
Key research interests include cultural heritage media, documentary filmmaking, and the role of digital technologies in engaging audiences with archives and historic sites. Her work emphasizes authentic atmospheric design, balancing historical accuracy with visitor safety and experiential engagement.
