Sanjoy Deb is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), specifically within the Psychology, Sport and Sensory Science school. He previously held academic roles at the University of Westminster, including leadership positions in course development and research validation. His research focuses on nutrition and exercise science, particularly the impact of nutraceuticals/functional foods on health, and behavior change strategies for occupational groups like healthcare workers and police officers.
Dr. Deb holds a PhD in Nutritional Physiology from Edge Hill University, an MSc in Sport and Exercise Nutrition from Leeds Beckett University, and a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science from the University of Birmingham. He has led interdisciplinary research projects funded by organizations such as Equinor (Norway) and Pharmako Biotechnology (Australia), investigating topics ranging from stroke rehabilitation interventions to energy expenditure in saturation divers.
His research themes include: (1) Nutraceutical effects on physiological stress and recovery, and (2) Digital health interventions for midlife women. He actively supervises PhD students exploring topics like iron-curcumin interactions, plant protein isolates, and healthcare worker wellness programs. Dr. Deb collaborates with the Cambridge Centre for Sport and Exercise Sciences (CCSES) and maintains ties with the University of Westminster's Centre for Nutraceuticals.
Funded projects include studies on stroke rehabilitation nutrition (2022), diver physiological demands (2019), and digital health behavior change (2022). His work bridges clinical practice and population health through participatory research methods.
