Sangwon Kim serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology & Immunology within the College of Life Sciences at Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, PA.
His research investigates tissue-level immune homeostasis, focusing on the equilibrium between pro- and anti-inflammatory responses in non-lymphoid tissues like the intestine. Key areas include T cell homing mechanisms, immune tolerance to commensal microbiota, and disruptions caused by pathogens or diet that lead to conditions such as psoriasis, inflammatory bowel diseases, and tumors. His laboratory employs novel approaches to dissect these processes, aiming to develop therapeutic interventions for inflammatory disorders and cancer.
Dr. Kim maintains an active research program as evidenced by his dedicated laboratory website, where current work explores GPR15 and other factors modulating peripheral tissue immunity.
