Sanghamitra Bandyopadhyay

Professor Sanghamitra Bandyopadhyay holds the position of Professor of Development Economics and Deputy Director of the Centre for Globalisation Research (CGR) at Queen Mary University of London. She specializes in the economics of growth and development, inequality measurement, and applied econometrics. Previously, she held roles at the University of Oxford, University of Birmingham, and the London School of Economics (LSE). She earned her PhD from LSE and currently serves as a Visiting Professor at the LSE's International Inequalities Institute.

Her research focuses on global inequality dynamics, including poverty measurement, intergenerational mobility, and the impact of inequality on economic growth. She has contributed to World Bank reports and UK government policy, and her work has been featured in prominent journals like World Development and Journal of Development Studies. She co-edits the Review of Economic Inequality and serves on editorial boards of leading economics journals.

Professor Bandyopadhyay is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) and has held visiting roles at institutions such as Cornell University and the Toulouse School of Economics. Her teaching includes macroeconomic modeling and policy. She supervises doctoral students in areas like development economics and inequality measurement, with notable completions now in academic and professional roles globally.
