Dr Sandy Mackenzie is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Agriculture and Environment at Harper Adams University. Their expertise spans nutritional biochemistry, clinical biochemistry, and farm animal nutrition, with a focus on copper metabolism, trace element deficiencies, and immune responses in livestock.
Teaching: Delivers modules in Nutritional Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, and Biotechnology at undergraduate and masters levels.
Research Interests: Investigates copper metabolism in ruminants, including copper deficiency aetiology, molybdenum toxicity, and toxicosis. Studies micronutrient effects on farm animal health, nutrition-immune system interactions, and husbandry practices impacting animal performance. Active in the Beef and Sheep Research Group and Dairy, Heifer and Calf Research Group.
