Sandy Knowles

Sandy Knowles is a Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing and Programme Lead at the University of Worcester, Department of Pre-Registration Nursing. She specializes in curriculum design for Nursing and Midwifery programmes, including apprenticeships and postgraduate education. Her clinical background spans surgical HDU, oncology, dialysis, midwifery, and hospice care, with international experience in the UK, Middle East, and the US.

Qualifications:
- BA (Hons) History
- PGCE, PgCert in Advanced Coaching
- Master’s in Education (Distinction)
- Registered Nurse (RN), Midwife (RM, non-practising), and Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN – HV).

Research & Awards:
- Pioneered end-of-life care initiatives leading to Plymouth’s designation as England’s first Compassionate City.
- Developed the Nursing Associate Training Programme, winning the 2022 Nursing Times Award.
- Secured funding for projects improving end-of-life care in prisons and supporting isolated patients via the Hospice VIP program.

Current Roles:
- Teaches modules on evidence-based practice, person-centred assessment, and clinical skills for Year 2 nursing students.
- Served as Academic Lead for Practice Development in a community trust.
