Sandy Fang is an Associate Professor of Surgery at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), where she serves as Program Director for the High Resolution Anoscopy Clinic and Director of Resident Research for the Department of Surgery. She specializes in colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, anorectal disorders, and minimally invasive robotic surgery. Previously, she spent nine years at Johns Hopkins University as Director of their High-Resolution Anoscopy Clinic, Surgical Director for the Anal Cancer Center of Excellence, and Director of the Surgery Apprenticeship Program.
Her education includes a B.A. from Washington University (1999) and an M.D. from the University of Iowa-Carver College of Medicine (2005). She completed her General Surgery residency and Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, followed by a Colon and Rectal Surgery Fellowship at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. She holds certifications from the American Board of Surgery (2011) and American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery (2013).
Dr. Fang's research focuses on anal cancer screening innovation, surgical outcomes in colorectal procedures, quality improvement initiatives, and novel treatment approaches for gastrointestinal diseases. She co-directs the International Consortium for Anal Cancer Screening and maintains active involvement in clinical trials for anal neoplasia treatments.

Her clinical leadership extends to developing screening protocols for immunocompromised populations and optimizing surgical techniques for high-risk patients.
Professional memberships include Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, American Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, International College of Surgeons, and International Anal Neoplasia Society.
