Jennifer Beaty

Jennifer Beaty, M.D., is an Associate Professor and Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education at the University of Nebraska Medical Center's College of Osteopathic Medicine. She is also the Designated Institutional Official for the college. Her roles include overseeing residency programs and medical education initiatives. Dr. Beaty holds dual appointments in Specialty Medicine and the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Program.

Her education includes a B.S. in Exercise Science from the University of Iowa (1997), an M.D. from the University of Iowa (2001), and a Colon and Rectal Surgery Fellowship from Creighton University (2008). She completed her General Surgery Residency at Iowa Methodist Medical Center (2006).

Dr. Beaty's research focuses on colorectal surgery, surgical education, and healthcare quality improvement. She has contributed to studies on anal fistula treatment, surgical training methodologies, and cost-effectiveness analyses of colorectal cancer therapies. Her work emphasizes resident education, curriculum development, and enhancing access to surgical training for osteopathic students.

Her recent articles highlight innovations in surgical education, virtual interview systems, and biofeedback therapies for pelvic floor conditions. She has held leadership roles in national committees, including the American College of Surgeons' Resident Education Committee and the Residency Review Committee for Colon and Rectal Surgery. Her professional certifications include dual board certifications in Surgery and Colon and Rectal Surgery.

Dr. Beaty has served as a Program Director for the Creighton University Colon and Rectal Surgery Fellowship and a Core Faculty member in General Surgery. She actively mentors medical students and residents at Creighton University and UNMC, emphasizing clinical excellence and patient-centered care.
