Sandro Santagata is an Associate Professor in the Department of Systems Biology at Harvard Medical School, where he leads the Santagata Lab. His research focuses on advancing multiplexed tissue imaging technologies in 2D and 3D to study tumor and immune cell interactions within the tumor microenvironment, aiming to identify spatial biomarkers that improve cancer diagnosis and personalized therapies.
His work contributes to the NCI Moonshot Human Tumor Atlas Network (HTAN) and collaborations with the Ludwig and Gray Foundations. At Harvard Medical School, he holds dual appointments as Associate Professor of Pathology and Systems Biology.
Dr. Santagata trained in the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, completed residency and fellowship in Anatomic Pathology and Neuropathology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), and pursued a research fellowship at the Whitehead Institute. He practices diagnostic pathology at BWH and co-leads a research team at the HMS Laboratory of Systems Pharmacology (LSP).
